Long before sustainability became a buzzword, people were repairing, reusing, recycling and finding clever ways to make things last. RE[wind] : Before Green Was a Thing is a hands-on filmmaking workshop inviting children and young people to step into Northern Ireland’s archives and discover how previous generations lived with less waste. Using fascinating archive footage from NI Screen as inspiration, participants will explore everyday habits, ingenuity and attitudes towards consumption and consider what these stories from the past might teach us about the future. Through filmmaking, storytelling and creative exploration, young participants will turn archive discoveries into their own ideas and stories, connecting the world of yesterday with the challenges of tomorrow.

The Repair Project offers a drop-in session between 12 and 2pm. Visitors are invited to contribute to a collective artwork by sewing, darning or embellishing shared materials. The focus is on the value of repair, the longevity of everyday items and the role of small, practical actions in supporting more sustainable habits.
