This case study has been commission by the Linen Quarter BID illustrates the practical and commercial benefits of moving towards a sustainable built environment. It considers related issues such as tenant requirements, circular fit out, and supply chains and offer others a template to help them on their own journey towards becoming more sustainable, efficient, and profitable. The event will hear from the report’s authors and invited speakers on the benefit of sustainable buildings and offer attendees the opportunity to the ask questions during a Q&A session.

0900 – The launch of our green building report on Bedford House (a nine-story tower block opposite the Grand Central Hotel) which highlights their sustainable journey and what more can be achieved. The aim of this report is to highlight how we can retrofit similar buildings across Belfast t o help create a more sustainable city. We conclude this session with a PwC presentation to highlighting sustainable developments in the heart of city.

Carol Lemmens - Arup

Carol is Arup’s Global Advisory Services Portfolio leader and interim Europe Property Business leader.

He was instrumental in developing Arup’s position paper to define the circular economy in the context of the built environment and developing Arup’s work as the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s (EMF) knowledge partner for the built environment. He continues to work to raise the awareness of the circular economy approach from general first principles to practice by identifying the many challenges, enablers and opportunities available to Arup and others in making the circular economy a reality. Carol regularly contributes to Circular Economy and thought pieces, presentations and interviews globally. Most notably, Carol was invited to give a key note address to the United Nations General Assembly at their Circular Economy event, in October 2018.
