In partnership with Sligo BID, we’re launching our All-Island sustainability approach, RE[act] is bringing communities together through active travel, connecting Belfast and Sligo one pedal at a time. Join us for a unique community cycling experience that puts sustainability, movement and connection at the heart of the journey. We’ll be taking to the wheels for a fun-filled Glow in the Dark Cycle Disco, lighting up the streets of Sligo with colour, music and energy. This vibrant event celebrates active travel while showcasing how sustainable choices can bring people and places closer together. Join Sustain for its inaugural Action Lab at RE[act] Festival 2026 : an interactive workshop designed to help organisations move from thinking about sustainability to doing something about it.

You’ll identify the processes within your organisation that are ready for sustainability action, explore what might be holding change back, and consider how mindsets can shift to support meaningful progress.

The session is built around Sustain’s Context, Reflection, Action framework, helping you understand where you are now, identify what needs to change, and explore practical ways to move forward.

Millions of children around the world are frustrated by the dire lack of action to protect the planet and their future. Until now, their only avenue to express these concerns has been protesting on the streets. Director Damon Gameau (2040, THAT SUGAR FILM) invites eight children on an epic adventure across Europe in a school bus powered by biofuel. Their mission is to better understand the planet’s predicament, explore solutions and, most importantly, take the conversation from the streets, into the boardrooms of some of the world’s largest polluters and influential companies.

This inspiring and rollicking journey results in the children forming a ‘Future Council’ to advise and influence the world’s most powerful companies on their decisions that impact nature. It is a coming-of-age journey that dares to imagine a brighter future.

Re[tell]: WearHerStory is a PEACEPLUS-funded collaboration between DkIT and Glow NI, engaging young women and seldom-heard voices to explore identity through textile and fashion heritage, storytelling and sustainability. This RE[act] festival workshop gives young women a voice as they watch and respond to NI Digital Archives footage of the Irish linen industry, reflecting on memory, place and heritage. Together, they will co-create their own stories and memories, imagining more sustainable futures.

Lights, camera, climate action! RE[screen] : Climate Outdoor Cinema brings climate stories to the big screen. Expect a carefully curated selection of thought-provoking films and documentaries exploring the environment, climate change, communities and the people working to create change. From global challenges to local stories, these films offer new perspectives, spark conversations and show that climate storytelling can take many forms. Grab a seat, settle in and prepare to laugh, think, question and maybe see the world a little differently when the credits roll.

Step off the beaten track and into Belfast’s natural and cultural history. RE[discover] : Health and Celtic Walk at Ligoniel Village takes you on a journey through nature, heritage and the traditions that have shaped this part of the city. Explore the area’s connection to Belfast’s linen heritage, discover local wildlife and landscapes, and uncover stories connected to Celtic traditions. This guided walk offers a chance to slow down, get outdoors and see a different side of Belfast, connecting the natural environment with the people, stories and industries that have shaped it over generations.
