Trees are more than just nature’s backdrop; they are vital to our health, well-being, and the vibrancy of our neighbourhoods. Urban trees are also crucial in the health and functionality of cities but managing them comes with its own set of challenges.

Did you know that Trees provide more than just environmental benefits? Aside from the well-known facts, such as filtering pollutants like carbon dioxide; temperature regulation and support for urban biodiversity, trees also have Health, well-being, social and economic benefits. It supports mental health as tree-lined streets have been linked to reduce stress and anxiety and improve overall mood. Did you notice why properties close to well-maintained tree-lined streets are more expensive than other? Or why energy bills are lower in areas that are surrounded by trees?

In partnership with Woodland Trust, we will delve into the invaluable benefits that trees offer to our community. This interactive session is designed to bring awareness to the importance of trees, from its roots to canopy. We still start with a brief informative talk from Paul Armstrong, we will then take you to a short walking tour down historic trees on Dublin Road and learn how to uncover the benefits of trees using i-Tree, a state of the art, peer reviewed software. We promise this to be a fun and educational way to connect with nature and discover how these green giants support our health and well-being.

Carol Lemmens - Arup

Carol is Arup’s Global Advisory Services Portfolio leader and interim Europe Property Business leader.

He was instrumental in developing Arup’s position paper to define the circular economy in the context of the built environment and developing Arup’s work as the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s (EMF) knowledge partner for the built environment. He continues to work to raise the awareness of the circular economy approach from general first principles to practice by identifying the many challenges, enablers and opportunities available to Arup and others in making the circular economy a reality. Carol regularly contributes to Circular Economy and thought pieces, presentations and interviews globally. Most notably, Carol was invited to give a key note address to the United Nations General Assembly at their Circular Economy event, in October 2018.
